Belorado to St. Juan de Ortega - May 14, 2015

Another fairly long day, last half on what seemed to be a logging road. My endurance is definitely improving although I don't seem to be walking any faster.

Lovely altar of church as leaving Belorado

Convent built into the side of the mountain in the distance

Signpost that sums up the rest of my journey. Burgos in 2 days

Fields, sky and distant mountains

Memorial halfway through the walk today. Also a gravesite where several political adversaries of Franco during the Spanish Civil war were summarily executed and buried in 1936. Their remains were discovered in 2011
Showing the excavation of bodies
Steep decline and even steeper incline on the other side leading out of the memorial site. Could have saved myself lots of exertion by taking the level highway running next to it.
Church in San Juan de Ortega. My destination today. Got picked up by hotel and driven the last 8 km after this. Could be brought back here next day to continue or continue from the hotel - picked the latter ;-)
